# Why esFAT? ## Rewarding our HODLers We have designed our conversion process to be as seamless as possible. FAT can be freely converted into esFAT any time. The process is instant on a 1:1 ratio. To convert esFAT back to FAT however, users have to lock up their esFAT tokens for a period of 7 days. Within this 7 days, users are not able to stake esFAT to earn the 30% platform rewards, allowing other esFAT stakers to earn more (with less esFAT staked). {% hint style="info" %} 7 days lock up is the shortest lock up duration in the industry {% endhint %} ## Listening to the community In fact, it was because of the testnet that we got the idea to launch esFAT.
