# Why esFAT?

## Rewarding our HODLers

We have designed our conversion process to be as seamless as possible. 

FAT can be freely converted into esFAT any time. The process is instant on a 1:1 ratio. 

To convert esFAT back to FAT however, users have to lock up their esFAT tokens for a period of 7 days. Within this 7 days, users are not able to stake esFAT to earn the 30% platform rewards, allowing other esFAT stakers to earn more (with less esFAT staked).

## Listening to the community

In fact, it was because of the testnet that we got the idea to launch esFAT. This idea was provided by one of our community members. We agreed! And got to work in putting this arrangement together.
