Why we built Funarcade

The shift in paradigm

Gaming 1.0

Gaming venues and platforms have always existed in our society. Casinos are but permissioned locations to host games where others can come to play.

These casinos invest huge time, money and effort, pulling out all stops to ensure that players stay or keep coming back to them.

Gaming 2.0

With the advent of the Internet, gaming venues moved online as well, accessing a global pool of players that is unrestricted by geography.

With online gaming, gaming venues continue to spend huge amounts of money to attract users to the platform - using tools like affiliate marketing to attract marketers and content creators.

Gaming 3.0

In both examples, value does not accrue back to players. Web2 projects keep all the profits for themselves, reinvesting the lion's share of profits made on more marketing and affiliates to get more users to get even more profits.

What if things could be different?

This is the web3 concept of on-boarding users onto the platform - by bypassing all middlemen and incentivising the people that actually matter - the users.

Our aim is to ensure that all users of our platform share in its rewards. We believe the most sustainable model is one where everyone wins - particularly the players who drive Funarcade.
